Travel Tunes - "Road Trippin'" by Red Hot Chili Peppers

Just like my last travel tunes, this one also reminds me of a particular moment in my travel history.  This song is written for driving down highway 1 along the coast in California.

Check out these lyrics:
"Blue you sit so pretty west of the one,
Sparkle light with yellow icing just a mirror for the sun..."
"In Big Sur we take some time to linger on..."
"Now let us drink the stars it's time to steal away,
Lets go get lost right here in the USA"

But I guess this song would pair well with any road trip.  I think it would be so awesome to do a road trip in Spain... rent a car and drive around the country.  I guess that's not the most price-conscious way of seeing the country, but it would be super awesome to be able to stop wherever you want along the way, see really small towns, take wonderful pictures, eat at crazy hole-in-the-wall places, and meet the locals.  I haven't read anything about anyone doing European road trips, it's always done by train.  Kind of makes me want to do it more.

Travel Tunes - Athlete's "Tourist"

This is a song that will forever remind me of stepping off a plane in Europe.  It was great timing- really getting into this band, and taking my first trip to Greece.  The first line "this European air, it always warms my face, I wish I could pack some" gets me every time!  I made an effort to listen to this song on my iPod when we were on the bus from the airport to our hotel.  Speaking of European air- when I got off the plane in Athens, the "European air" was thick with the smell of cigarette smoke.  Not the kind of air I would want to pack and bring home with me.
